We are actively monitoring the situation, assessing risks, and are prepared to implement immediate changes to ensure a high level of safety to staff as well as maintaining business continuity. We will continue communications with our members and retirees in a timely and transparent way in order to sustain your confidence. Providing excellent service to our members and retirees is a key objective of CFRS. If you have an existing appointment or need to drop off documents requested by CFRS, we are requesting that all members and retirees seek benefits consultation via phone or email communications and avoid, if possible, visiting the Retirement Office. If documents are not time-sensitive or confidential in nature, most documents can be sent by email , fax, or regular US mail. Your retirement benefit, if direct deposited, will continue to be processed as usual. If you are still receiving your benefit by check, please note that if CFRS is forced to close our doors, processing physical checks may be difficult. Benefits staff is currently available to change benefit to direct deposit and your benefit will be in your bank account on the last working day of every month. CFRS members, retirees, and visitors should continue to practice good public health hygiene. The FCDPH reminds you there are a number of steps you can take to protect your health and those around you. Wash hands often with soap and water. Avoid touching eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands. Avoid close contact with people who are sick. Stay away from work, school or other people if you become sick with respiratory symptoms like fever and cough.
